The Peter Janssen Collection with Over 4,000 Objects
Peter Janssen’s passion for Samurai artifacts began over 40 years ago. His collection has grown to more than 4,000 items. In 2017, he opened the Samurai Art Museum in Berlin, later expanding it centrally in Berlin Mitte. The multimedia presentations offer insights into 1,000 years of Japanese culture and craftsmanship. The collection includes not only weapons but also textiles, paintings, woodblock prints, tea utensils, and Buddhist sculptures. Highlights include an 18th-century palanquin, armor from the Matsudaira clan dating back to the 17th century, and tea utensils from the time of Sen no Rikyū (1522–1591).
